Dad gave me and Jane many things, but one of his greatest gifts was the freedom to carve our own path in life. He would give good counsel and advice but rarely an order, he gave us room to make our own mistakes but be there to help us when things went wrong. A song who's words always make me think how Dad was a Dad and the kind of Dad I want to be was "Bridge Over Troubled Waters". I could pick any number of lines to express what Dad was to me, but the line "Sail on Silver Girl (Boy) sail on by, your time has come to shine and all your dreams are on their way, see how they shine, oh if you need a friend I'm sailing right behind...." Life is sometimes tough, but a lot easier when you know your Dad has your back!
